Dr. Luder Whitlock

Dr Luder Whitlock has a rich and varied legacy in higher education. After nearly ten years as a pastor, Dr Whitlock joined the faculty of Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in 1975 and in 1978 was appointed president, a position he held for 23 years. Under his leadership, RTS grew from a small regional unaccredited school to one of the most innovative as well as one of the ten largest seminaries in North America. He was cited in Christianity Today as one of the five seminary presidents most influential on theological education during the last half of the Twentieth Century.
Dr. Whitlock’s service to higher education has included servicing on the boards of the National Commission on Higher Education, the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, Trinity International University (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), the International Theological Seminary, the International Leadership University, Covenant College, Montreat College, The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, the Association for Biblical Higher Education, and Westminster Theological Seminary.
He has also served as executive director/president of The Trinity Forum, an organization that provides learning resources and experiences for thousands of business and professional executives. Dr. Whitlock helped establish and served on the board of Lifework Leadership, a highly successful model for training emerging business leaders in cities.
Dr Whitlock and his wife, Mary Lou, have three grown children and eleven grandchildren.
